A Poem by Gloria Stevens
My friend called to tell me no school today.
How do you know, I asked. No way!
He said the sun is too bright, no clouds in the sky,
it’s summer at the beginning of spring,
and so–no school today.
Huh? I asked. No way.
We’re playing baseball at nine,
soccer at eleven. Are you in?
Today there is no school.
Oh, I answered, yawn, stretch, get out of bed,
Did you think I forgot today’s April Fools?
